Just as the Nazarites and others have done, the Eclectic Monks commit to following a regimen intended to maximize their whole being – physical health, mental health, and spiritual/emotional health. Imbalance in any of these affects the others. Members are encouraged to live the Unofficial Apprentice path for three weeks annually.
Unofficial Apprentice
After doing this daily for a year you will be ready to decide if you really want to pursue becoming an Eclectic Monk. For most, this is enough – you will see your body, mind, and spirit transformed by living this way, and your productivity will increase despite spending time in the required daily activities.
- Perform all daily and weekly rituals
- Sleep is important. If you regularly have a hard time sleeping or feel tired during the day, consider CBT. Find a clinician to work with you or if finances do not allow, read “Say Good Night to Insomnia” by the creator of CBT. Many libraries have the book, including digital and audio formats.
